Off-Highway Tyres

Commonly found on Trucks and Equipment deployed in Construction, Farming, Material Handling, Mining, and related applications, belong to this specialized category. These Off-The-Road (OTR) tyres are systematically classified by the Tyre and Rim Association (TRA).

TRA codes for OTR tyres consistently begin with a letter, followed by a number, and sometimes another letter. The initial letter signifies the type of machinery for which the tyre is suitable, while the subsequent digit indicates the tyre’s specific tread depth.

There are four types of OTR and industrial tyres – based on their application. The designated category can be found on the sidewall of the Tyre. The types are listed below, and are reflected in the first letter(s) of the TRA code:

  • C   Compactor
  • L    Loader/Dozer
  • G   Grader
  • E   Earthmoving (Transport, Scrapers, Articulated & Rigid Dump Trucks),
  • IND   Industrial/ Mechanical Handling

Tyre and Rim Association has also approved the following tire designations for agricultural tyres:

  • F   Steer Front Tractor Tires
  • R  Drive Rear Tractor Tires
  • HF   High Flotation Tires
  • I   Implement Tires
